BOS terminal question

Flying with a family friend in a few weeks. Am unfamiliar with BOS

1) Her flight is ~10am; mine about 1pm. Want to go with her thru security to get her club access. Both of us will have luggage to check. She is on US. I am on UA

2) Are the UA and US ticket counters near enough that I could easily check in my luggage and then go thru security with her?

3) Are UA and US gates connected airside?

4) Is the connection from the airport Hilton easily walkable for both our check-ins?

5) When we arrive separately at BOS is it easy for me to get from UA baggage to US?

TIA!

UA is in terminals A and C (A for flights serving former CO cities, and C for flights serving former UA cities), while US is in terminal B. These are in separate buildings, and inconvenient to move between. There is no airside connection. You can see a map at http://www.massport.com/logan-airpor...tive-maps.html

There is a free shuttle bus that goes between the terminals. It's also possible to walk, although I don't have personal experience with that.

BOS terminal question

Looks like my plan to get her airside and into USAirways club won't work - unless i can use a UA boarding pass to get into that terminal. Anyone know?

You could buy a refundable ticket on US to get through security and into the club.
It's an easy (5- to 10-minute) walk between US and UA.

Separate question. My parents are going through BOS. Inbound on EI into E, and departing from A on DL. It's 2 separate PNRs. If they aren't checking luggage, will it be an issue clearing customs (or do you have to do that incoming from DUB, or do all flights from DUB preclear customs?) and walking from the E to the A term in 1.5 hours? Thanks!

Yes, it will TSA policy now permits you access to any checkpoint so long as you have a valid BP for that station. Don't be put off if the Officer points out that you are at the wrong checkpoint because it's usually the case that people presenting at US with UA BP's don't intend to be there.

DUB is a pre-clearance port so your folks will arrive as functional domestic pax. I would not check luggage because that will involve a wait and 1:30 is pretty tight given that they are on separate PNR's.

While DL domestic will likely try to find something for your folks if they are late, there's no guarantee of availability and DL will take care of misconnects before it takes care of people who are late.

BOS terminal question

I can confirm that you can get into Terminal B with a United boarding pass. The TSA officer did ask if I was aware that my flight was actually from Terminal C.

Did you figure out how to walk to Terminal C from the US side of Terminal B, or did you take the shuttle bus?

Agreed.

BOS would go from a decent airport to a great airport if they could figure out full airside terminal transfer.

BOS terminal question

My thoughts exactly.

Was very surprised at how difficult BOS is to navigate airside!

DEN has me spoiled
