Lowest Daily Rate You've Seen? (With discounts)

I am in awe at what I'm seeing in PHX in 2 weeks...Midsize (EA/Aisle eligible)

Rental Rate 3 Day(s) @ $17.44 $52.32

Mileage UNLIMITED MILEAGE INCLUDED

Fees
Customer Facility Charge 6.00/day $18.00
Maintenance Fee 0.61/day $1.83
Concession Recovery Fee (11.11%) $2.68
Vehicle License Surcharge (5.0%) $2.24
Stadium Surcharge (3.25%) $0.73
Trans Priv Tax (10.6%) $4.75

Your Total Savings -$30.00

Estimated Total: (includes taxes and fees) Approx. $52.55
This is NOT using any of my "Free Days". This is the Entertainment Book discount coupled with a $30 off Entertainment Book coupon.

Am I reading this correctly that they're pocketing $52.32-$30.00 = $22.32 for 3 days, or $7.44/day? It's not like it's this weekend...This is 2 weeks from now, April 14-17.

Sure, I've had lesser $ rentals using free days, but these are just publicly-available coupons.

Two weeks ago, I made my first booking and it was $130, which I was happy with, for PHX in the springtime. I know it's for a reason--light demand, otherwise they wouldn't be all but giving cars away (almost literally). I guess some revenue is better than none.

Awesome. I'm hoping for AT LEAST something like a Cherokee for my $7.00/day.

It is a gathering of friends, and three of us are sharing the car expense...This might be one of those rare occasions where we'll be splurging on an true premium upgrade. I think PHX has the Maserati, don't they? Worst case I'd spring for a Benz/BMW convertible.

Maybe the rate isn't so crazy after all...Just get 'em in the door, they say!

The cheapest I have seen in NYC with the airport locations or city ones is $40 including taxes on a Mid size res as an EE.

Several years ago, I had a $10/day last minute weekend rate at BWI stacked with a $20 off weekend coupon. With taxes, I think the rental was $14 all in. Oh yeah, and I got a BMW off the ES too!

I had a 4 day rental at LAX a few months ago for $42.89 after taxes. Chose a midsize SUV with leather seats off of the EA.

BHM used to be a very inexpensive location to rent and had low taxes and fees. With the weekend specials and coupons, 3 day rentals were less than $20. The selection of vehicles also tended to be very good as much of the lot was an unadvertised EA.

Um, I am reading it as $52.32 + $30.23 (taxes/fees) - $30.00 = $52.55

as pointed out by a smart poster in Rental Discussions subforum, the non-airport Phoenix locations are currently having amazing all-in deals on one-ways. Costco discounts gave him Avis full-size at $34 all-in for a week to CA!

Some years back, I rented a Prius at LAX for a weekend for around $20.

Driving back, it was still showing full. Topping up the tank was $2.15.

Great examples, everyone. Love hearing about us saving $! But what occurred over the weekend is mind-blowing to me. I canceled and re-booked to the following:

Rental Rate
3 Day(s) @11.99 $ 35.97

UNLIMITED MILEAGE

Taxes and Fees
Customer Facility Charge 6.00/day $ 18.00
Maintenance Fee 0.61/day $ 1.83
Concession Recovery Fee 11.11pct (11.11%) $ 0.67
Vehicle License Surcharge 5 Pct (5.0%) $ 1.23
Stadium Surcharge (3.25%) $ -1.83
Trans Priv Tax (10.6%) $ 2.62
Total Savings $ 31.80
Estimated Total (includes taxes and fees) $ 26.69
3 days for the car is $35.97-$31.80= $4.17 for the car TOTAL, or $1.39/day. I'm pay more in Customer Facility Charges alone than I am for the car itself!

I'm DEFINITELY printing a hard copy and bringing it with me.

Why is it so sirprising?
If its a slow weekend the agencies prefer to let cars out for free as there is limited space to hold them..
Iirc hertz stopped giving mileage credit for sub $10 rentals - i had quite a few of those in the past

Back in November '15 I got an ECAR at the Anaheim/Disneyland location for $16.44/day all-in (minimal taxes/fees) for 3 days. I'd used a one-two-free day one-way SNA-Disneyland in a PCAR and they let me keep the 300c I drove in, even on the ECAR res. I then did one-way Disneyland-LAX booked FCAR on a one-two-free day and, again, they let me keep the PCAR I drove in. This gave me 5 days for right around $50 with only 2 one-two-free certs and all in the same PCAR. This was all with no other coupon codes.

PHX is having a glut - they have a 'Arizona drive out' special coupon code on the website ( doesn't show on the mobile app for some reason) - I'm flying into PHX in May just to rent for a week at $10/day EXec aisle, returning can at SAN
