Pet Peeves on UA

Why is it that the seat back must be upright during take-off and landing? My question is specially directed to the last row that has its back to the wall. I can't understand the difference it makes if its upright or not?

To facilitate a quick exit. In most Y cabins it's very difficult to stand up straight when the seat in front is fully reclined. No, this does not have much effect on the last row in the cabin, but "all seats up" is an easier rule to communicate and enforce.

tfong007: Why did you make this sound like a UA specific issue? Seems to me all the airlines I have flown on have this requirement.

As this is not a UA issue, I will move this thread to travelbuzz.
