AA is the largest carrier in the world. They aren't going anywhere.

Agreed, but as more and more news comes out (i.e. AMR being yanked from the exchange) people are going to stumble upon this place and ask these types of questions.

We just need to hunker down for the long haul. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Exsqueeze me? Yanked from what exchange?

AMR is no longer part of the S&P 500. It is still most definitely listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

Just a tiny bit of difference there... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif

Jeez, where do some of these people get their information from? The media? He!!, the entire civilized world knows the whole truth and nuttin' but the truth about AA is right here in our little ol' forum.

Chicken little was wrong, the sky isn't falling. Your miles are safe, your airline is safe, the skies are safe...oops, I forgot, the TSA ain't safe.

AA is definitely in trouble. On a daily basis, their expenditures greatly exceed their income. They have some serious work to do before they return to profitability (which I think they will). Will they file for bankruptcy? Am I a phophet? Who knows?? But even if they do, operations will continue and your miles will be 'safe'. If they go the Chap. 11 route, I would expect they would emerge from it profitable instead of going the way of PanAm and Eastern.
