Jump to AA from UA
If I wanted to jump ship with UAL and go to AA with my 1K status, could I and how would I go about it?

Well, AA doesn't have 1K status... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
Seriously, go to the AA board and do a search for 'comp status' or 'status match'
AA usually replies by offering a challenge (fly x miles within y months to earn status more quickly). With your UA 1K status, they will likely give you AA Platinum (mid-tier).
AA is unlikely to match with top-tier (Executive Platinum) unless you are a very high revenue flyer (read: most itineraries international full F or J, but then who cares about the status? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif).

What part of the first thread you started that was closed and moved to the AA forum was confusing?
