9/11 on CBS

I know this doesn't belong in this forum but I don't know where else to put it.

I am watching the special on CBS dealing with the attack on the WTC towers. I had forgotten how how moving this event was for me personally. When it happened, I was about to head for an airport to catch a flight. I saw everything happen live on TV and was awestruck.

My reason for posting is not to cull up "where were yous". Rather, it is to say how mad this event made me. How sad it makes me. How much sorrow I have for those injured and killed. How much anger I have towards those that perpetrated the attack or made it easier for it to happen.

I don't care what god you call yours, but I hope that god blesses those killed and their families.

At the same time, I wish retribution many times over against those that carried out this attack.

Dingo, my mother and father used to talk about Pearl Harbor, where they were when they heard etc.

I never related to that until 9-11.

My mother prayed for peace as she knew she could lose all that she loved in the war, but worked making airplanes and later in the brand new Pentagon while her man was in the Army. It took a long time, but finally after incredible human effort by millions of people and much loss, peace came.

Once again we have to earn the peace. I believe we will do so.

If you haven't already done so, please read 'John Adams' by David McCullough. Now is the time we all should remember how our country was born. It was much more difficult than we were taught in school.

Fifty years from now, what do you believe will be written about us?

Probably the single biggest problem for mankind is that even you live to be 100 years old, it's a very short time.

My father, a scholar in the truest meaning of the world, had a masters in US history, and to your point, oldpenny, so I'll skip the book on John Adams..I could have written it. <G>

Anyone who would dare attack civilans in this country will know after we finish off the Taliban and those who support terrorism that to attack our people, is to sign your own death warrant.

Those clowns are in a hurry to meet Allah? We should do everything we can to help them. I'll end it here, because you don't want to get me going on how our dependence on oil has weakened our nation.

The late, great, lamented Frank Zappa was once asked what the greatest danger in today's world was, and he immediately replied, "Militant ignorance." I've never forgotten than answer.

This is REALISTIC TELEVISION.

And it was by pure accident, that it was being filed.

The documentary should give us a new respect for the FireFighters, who have gone unnoticed till 911.

Dear BigFish,

I believe that you folks in Iowa do get a very good public education. Also your advantage of having a history buff for a father is wonderful.

If you want to sit down and cry, sit down and read a high school American history text book as 'adopted' in Texas! The book 'adoption' committee believes that ignorance is bliss!

The kids come away with little more than a feeling that Lexington and Concord and crossing the Delaware were the whole deal.
