You need more (75,000 qualifying miles) to earn the equivalent (SkyTeam Elite Plus) on Delta. I am not sure about American.
With AA you get Oneworld Sapphire for 50k, which is by-and-large the same as Star Gold.

At 100k, you get OneWorld Emerald, which gets you access to the first-class lounges. (With Star, there is no status-based access to F lounges, though some individual carriers allow their top tier elites in their own F lounges. (SQ allows PPS Club Solitare's into the SIN F loung ewhen flying SQ, I believe, for an example. Based on your travel patterns, I don't think you have to worry about making Solitare, though...))

This caught my attention too, but unfortunately the message is this:

"Only actual miles traveled, or bonus miles earned from a full fare First Class ticket on Alaska Airlines, count towards your MVP or MVP Gold status."

I was MVP many years ago before they partnered with AA and I joined their program. I doubt you need FC for getting MVP or MVP Gold Status.

Hi there,

I'm in more or less the same position as the OP, but what I was wonder is what the real benefit of being 1k is. You already get the + seats at prem, and internationally it seems 1k doesn't really give any benefit... Am i wrong?

Systemwide Upgrades. 6 of them a year. No miles or co-pays, and until the co-pay system comes online, the SWU's upgrade a lot lower fare codes than miles will.
