spoke to UA

They said the screen is down until 1/9! So if anyone is looking for a status match before then, get in line! I was told to fax it in again, and they were having problems with the fax machine in December LOL
So, I've faxed in twice, emailed and called. I will not count on my status match. In fact, I was just told to fax it in again! LOL!

Does this seem crazy to anyone else or only me?!?!!

You need to call AA for a status match "challenge" as I don't believe they do just a status match anymore. The specific AA information is in this thread.

You can find everything you need to know in this thread or the AA section, knowlege is the key. Everything you need to knw is here if you just read and read. Believe me

AS status match: how long does comped status stay valid? Cutoff?

Q for folks who have status-matched into AS's MVP/MVP Gold program: how long does the status last?

In AA's program, status matches made after July-ish stay valid for the entire following year. Wondering if there's a similar cutoff date for AS status matches. At some point in the calendar year it becomes unrealistic to think that a newly transferred flyer is going to fulfill the seg/mile requirements for the year.

NW Silver elite..match to continental?

I just recently got silver elite on Northwest Worldperks...Wanted to get match on continental since i fly on both airlines frequently..called continental and they seemed very reluctant to do it..said that they match everyone except Northwest worldperks..I am new to this whole match thing so i am confused..and should i ask for match on American Advantage..
Having just made NW Silver elite for the first time, this is a whole new world to me. Thanks for any feedback..

I was matched to AS MVP this year from UA Premier. It took less then two weeks from when I faxed my request in. They matched me in November and my card says through 12/2006.

Probably not. AA seems to just offer challenges these days. People seem to have success doing the gold and plat challenges at the same time. The only real benefit is getting gold status for half (or less, depending on how long a flight you complte the gld challenge on) of the platinum challenge.

Airlines generally agree not to poach elites from their alliance partners. NW won't match CO and vice-versa (as a general rule, anyway)

Continental will recognize your NW status though, so you're set anyway.

Unlike most airlines whose status expires in Feb of the following year, AS status expires on December 31.

Not sure the exact cutoff date, but certainly a match done in say October will be good through 12/31 of the following year.

I just talked to the Onepass service center, and they confirmed status through 02/07. They sent out cards expriring 02/06 last month, and in Feb they'll mail out the new cards.

What is required for a 1K status match?

I did a search for status matching to MP 1K and the information seems to reflect that it does happen, but only on very rare occasions. Does anyone know what is required or know of anyone who actually succeeded?

Getting around Once-in-a-lifetime

I was reading this thread, and came across a query which made me curious.

Can one get around the once-in-a-lifetime deal by changing addresses/ signing up for a new account? What would the punishment be if one was caught.

Also, do certain programs not apply the once-in-a-lifetime rule. I heard AS allows you to statusmatch once every two years.

Yes, but it may violate the terms of some programs and with several, a sweep to check for duplicate accounts is well within the capabilities of some airlines and hotels.

Don't know about AS, but the risk for getting caught can vary. Sometimes it's nothing more than a mandatory merger of accounts. Other times, who knows.
