Show me the points, Big Bang

Has anyone had experience yet with Big Bang.
It seems like a great program to get free miles, only signed up a few weeks ago but
wondering how long does it take to credit
the 500 miles signup bonus.

It woudl help if the service would e-mail us
when we earn points.

I have clicked a number of times until I get
a headache. IT's no big deal, but wondering
your impressions on Big Bang. CATMAN

As the operator of The Airline Mileage Workshop (http://members.theglobe.com/mileage), I have BigBang listed on my website as a great resource to earn frequent flyer mileage. I have earned 20,000 Northwest WorldPerks miles through BigBang. However....and this is important...I have earned my mileage through referral member bonuses and not through clicking on their affiliated websites. Paul Angeles, the operator of BigBang is a fair and pleasant man to deal with and will let you know when you reach the minimum 1000 miles required to receive airline mileage vouchers in the mail.

They start you off with 500 "miles" but you need a minimum of 2500 "miles" to redeem. They give either half a mile or two and a half miles for visiting sites and I do not know how many sites they have. So you need to visit a LOT of web sites before you can redeem. I did not even bother with this one.

Good luck Catman, maybe if you can find tons of referrals like MileageAddict you might be able to make a redemption. For some of us getting even 2500 miles is a virtual impossibility.

Recently, Newsweek had an article on web sites which offered freebies. They quoted some people who had trouble getting to the minimum points required for redemption. One of the sites mentioned in the article was BonusMail. I thought that the characterization of BonusMail in the article was a little extreme, but my own personal experience suggests that it is a LOT of work to get the basic minimum of points on BonusMail and impossible to get anywhere near what MileageAddict's site states unless you are able to get lots and lots of referrals, or spend lots of money on BonusMail's offer.

BonusMail is a bit tough, though I have managed to accumulate over 12,000 points in less than a year, which seems good until you consider that I earned 7500 of them from just two offers.

To really earn points/rewards with any of these programs requires purchases, which I have yet to do since they have yet to offer me something I wanted to buy ...

I think it is clear to all that the only way to reach mileage award levels with any of the point promoters is to generate lots of referals. If you have a website like mine or perhaps lots of friends or co-workers, it might be possible. However, by just point and clicking to earn the stray point or two is not worth it.

Here is a list of all of the point earning sites that I know about:

Cybergold
PlanetAll
BigBang
FreeRide
MyPoints
ClickRewards
BonusMail
Ecentives
ProLaunch

I have accumulated 7100 points with BonusMail after over a year with them. When I joined with them they used to offer miles with United Airlines but they no longer do so. A while ago they did not offer miles with any airline and they did not respond to my email when I asked them about it. Now it seems that they have added Alaska as the sole airline partner, which does not do me any good since I do not have miles on Alaska. I will be cancelling with them soon after I reach the appropriate redemption level.

BonusMail just sent me an email that offers me 2500 points for replying to an extensive survey about their service. The 2500 bonus points will get me to my award level and then I can cancel their service.

I spoke my mind and told them how their service does not offer sufficient point earning opportunities. I have been with them for 15 months and will have earned far fewer points than with other services.

Excluding my ability to acquire huge numbers of referrals, my favorite website of this type if you just want to visit and collect points for free is FreeRide. They do not offer airline miles but you can earn various $5-10 gift certificates very quickly.

I just signed up for Big Bang for a chance at
getting a few extra miles here and there.
Can go on the site when I get bored and need
something to kill time late at night.

And it's free, like most of the programs
mentioned, a great deal in itself.

FYI Mileage Addict: Like your Web site. Nice
graphics and trying out a few of your suggestions. Thanks from CATMAN

Does anyone know which airlines Big Bang gives airmiles for? This information wasn't obvious on their site, nor was there an e-mail address/feedback button.

Mr. Paul Angles of BigBang keeps an inventory of mileage vouchers for all of the major US airlines but will gladly special order vouchers from another carrier if you don't mind waiting 6-8 weeks.

Personally, I have received 20,000 miles in Northwest vouchers from him which he mails out promptly. It then takes Northwest about three weeks to credit the miles to my account.

Catman, maybe you could post your experinces with BigBang 6-12 months down the road. If they are positive I may join (and you may get my referral).
