You OK, Rudi??

I sure as heck hope Rudi wasn't taking advantage of the new Swissair-Delta-United connection for his return home last night...he mentioned soemthing about trying out the new partnerships on his current trip stateside in a recent posting...

I think this is not an appropriate place to speculate about such a human tragedy.

I honestly don't know what you folks are talking about. I was (am) concerned about a fellow frequnt traveller (and FlyerTalk MasterPoster) and was seeking information that would alleviate my concern for his well being, not speculating about the nature of the trajedy. However, if I have offended your sensibilities, I sincerely apoliogize.

Matt, I did not take offence by your remarks of concern for our good online friend Rudi, and I understand and share your thoughts. It is a valid post considering the recent posts on his travel plans. I hope we hear from him soon. And of course, condolences to the family and friends of those who lost their lives in this tragedy.

I had breakfast with Rudi on Monday and I think (but don't quote me) that he said he
was going to be in New York City till Friday
for the U-S Open Tennis match at Flushing
Meadow. He was really excited about going
to it. He's a great guy and I consider
him a friend.

Since I'm in the news business I was very very busy with the SwissAir crash and stopped
a few times and wondered if Rudi said he was
flying back Wednesday or Friday or Saturday.
I know he came in on United.

Maybe we should all send e-mails to his
E-Mail saying "Hi! Hope you are ok."

Maybe this is NOT the forum to talk about
this topic but Rudi if you are reading, write
back all of your Frequent Flyer buddies. And
From CATMAN... I hope you all are ok and
have SAFE FLYING if you are taking to the skies soon.

Michelo and Jaws43... you are both right,
this is not the forum to talk about any
possible human tragedy.

And I accept this week's "Nancy/Emmett_s"
award for going off the topic.

I sent Rudi an e-mail anyway saying hope he's doing ok and asking him to just post
something on FLyertalk..

It's nice that some of us watch out for each
other. I'm right now getting an earful from
my 76 year old neighbor who says "Cancel
your Maui trip! Air travel is dangerous." and so on.

SOrry, I don't think about my flights turning
into a "tragedy." Air travel I think is safer than a lot of other things. And I
decided a long time ago to enjoy life and not
be afraid of anything.

Sorry about the dissertation. I will take
my "Nancy" award and get back to frequent
flyer topics! CATMAN

THIS MESSAGE FOR ALL, ESPECIALLY YOU RUDI,
MY FRIEND.... I APOLOGIZE IF MY CHOICE OF
WORDS WAS INAPPROPRIATE. Megamiles said it
properly, like Jaws43 concurred.

Again, I have a gut feeling Rudi's ok, but
I hope I am right. CATMAN

Sorry Matt: I did not mean to attack you personally. I also thought about Rudi's trip as soon as I heard about the accident. Now, the names of the victims are published and Rudi Martel was not on the aircraft.

We are very happy that our Swiss community member is ok.

Thanks, Michilo. Upon reflection, I see that my orignial posting is phrased inappropriately. Thanks to all who e-mailed me with advice for postings (eg, writing in the third person, writing sentences rather than thoughts) and thanks to megamiles for saying it correctly. As frequent fliers, I think we all probably have a visceral reaction to (as the FAA calls them) incidents. Looking forward to reading Rudi soon!

Thank you my friends.

thank you for beeing concerned. We (my wife and I) just flew back (Thursday/Friday) JFK-FRA-ZRH with UA (LH as carrier) and arrived safely at home. On trips with my wife I let my laptop at home.

The Swissair crash is quite a shock and many relatives here at home phoned to look after us (my children were able to comfort them).

And I try now to answer all my email.

Rudi
