It isn't only the miles...
By reading FF this year I earned 86,894 miles on United, 138,475 on Delta and 10,112 misc. for a total of 235,481 points/miles.The missus earned about 48,000. These miles came from switching long distance carriers, I-Dines, instant wins, a loan, E-trade, several days at a *wood Luxury hotel, bonds, an interview with an Amex financial advisor and so on. I didn't have time to test drive a Jag and wasn't a meeting planner. (We only took 3 trips. One on an upgraded fare to Italy and two on upgraded fares to NYC.) The upgraded trips also allowed us to become Silver Medallions on Delta opening up a whole other world. However, the greatest amount of points/miles came from the bonuses with timing and signing up for various. promotions. (I only have three credit cards and they were responsible for 71,000 mile transfers)one of which is the Delta Amex. I work for a small nonprofit don't travel for business and would never be able to do this without the help and knowledge of members on this Board. Thank you.

What a wonderful first post! Welcome to Flyertalk (as a poster, not just a lurker) powlan.
As the end of the year approaches, we can all share our exploits and how well we've done.
As Thanksgiving approaches, we can all give thanks for each other, for this board, and Randy.
I'm reminded of a Community thread where Rudi posted his personal Profit and Loss statement for Flyertalk.
But since this thread is about mileage exploits and thanking the board for those, it seems perfectly appropriate in MilesBuzz.
It also serves as a reminder that the things we post, and the conversations that we have, are not just between ourselves (small little clique that we sometimes seem to be, although a welcoming and friendly one -- most of the time -- for new contributors). We're also having conversations in front of the rest of the Internet. And it's good to hear from new posters on how their mileage accumulation and travel has benefited.
Happy Thanksgiving to all! And feel free to share your own mileage profit and loss here!
Best,
Gary

Gary -
Thanks for the welcome. I've been a lurker because I've been able to find the answers to all my questions through the search function. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute something of value to the mileage part of this. Right now, the only thing I can say is that I hope everyone (including myself) can smile at the front line people at the airports. Gotta be one of the toughest times of the year for them. Happy gobble day.

If only everyone were this wise; Flyertalk would be an even better place than it is now.

I also welcome you to the light as a poster. You join the tens of thousands who have benefited from the community that shares. I'd say you were a very good lurker and welcome you to share the same as a poster.
As mentioned, it truly is a happy thanksgiving with the members we have.
Cheers.
P.S. Based on your treasure trove of miles and points - you've mastered the details.

Search Function, when did they add a search function
Welcome, it's totally amazing how much you can learn from the people here.
Co-workers are always totally amazed when they will ask something like "What's a good restaurant in Frankfurt", and in less then 30 seconds you can get an answer, directions, menu and specials, and the waitress to ask for here.
This is easily the best travel information source I use.
