You should be matched to CO Plat, but that would only be equivalent to Premier Exec (1P) in UA's program (and you'd automatically get that status from UA as well now that the programs are semi-combined). You'd have to get the 100K EQMs to get 1K status on UA, so it's prob too late for 2012. But when CO's program goes away in January, you'd likely stay at UA's 1P level til the end of 2012 with a match now (although there are rumors that UA may create another elite level between 1P and 1K for next year to match CO Plat).

Delta "challenge"

Has anybody used the promotion that was out a couple months back where you fly a very small number of flights to bump status, like 2 domestic to go from silver to gold? If so how long did the status change take after the flight?

I called the good folks at Delta, have spoke to three people, two gave me confilcting answers, and the other had no idea!

Tried a search and have come up dry, please help.

Lifetime Status Match on UA

I will reach lifetime platinum status on AA when all of my earned mileage posts. Living in Chicago, UA is an equally good choice and in fact lately, tickets have been much cheaper and award seats are much easier to claim.

Since I only fly about six round trips per year, the only way to maintain elite status, is the lifetime route.

Does anyone know if UA would match lifetime platinum with some level of UA lifetime elite status.

I would happily switch my credit card and other non flying mileage earning activies to UA if tehy granted lifetime status.

Thanks in advance,

David

Delta Plat looking at CO or UA for a Match- Advice?

Hi, I just joined FT. Also read through about 10 pages of this thread.

I'm finding DL's policies a bit unbearable in that my system-wide upgrades require a high fare purchase or if doing a KLM U class ticket, then the upgrades are never there.

So, I'd like to do a CO or UA match. Which one and where do I start (looked at the websites and there's no link for matching). Have a trip planned in 2 weeks that will pull 16,000 miles or more (US to India). TIA.

They're basically the same airline anyway so not much difference. You can match status to the opposite FFP (e.g. if you're CO Plat, you get matched to UA 1P vv) and transfer miles back and forth.

Thanks. Did a Google search and found info. My DL Plat would match to UA Premier..but it says they will not extend Plat privileges on Partners (such as to lounges) during the 90 day challenge period. Does that make sense?

That's correct. Star Alliance lounge access requires the presence of the physical card. During the challenge period, you will not get the card.

Thanks. However, CO's match policies require double the mileage 35k v 17k in the 90 days. I think I'll wait until next year and see if UA puts in a 75k level between their current 50k and 100k levels.

Also, as an aside, when I looked at the UA/CO flights for my preferred routings, their flights were much more full than DL/KLM and the existing seat assignments were pretty bad. On the plus side, their award availability was much better in B class than it is with DL/KLM/AF.

Thanks. Of course, when I asked UA, they said privileges would be there. But the document for status match clearly states that they won't. Usually, the boarding pass, at least with Skyteam and with BA gives your level on the boarding pass and that is adequate.

United does not give away club access when you reach P1, you either have to have bought a membership, or you are *G on another partner besides UA/CO, or you have one of those new club access credit cards.

Don't expect lounge access unless you possess one of those above, or pay of course.

Star Alliance's policy is different. Boarding pass is not enough if you are using a Star Gold status to get into a lounge. You need the physical card.

When you status match, do you lose your current membership of the original programme?
