iDine vs U-Promise
I just tried to register my credit cards with iDine today, but they said since they were already registered with U-Promise that they could not register them with iDine. Is this normal? Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks!

Welcome to Flyertalk!
The dining option with Upromise is run by iDine. At least that's my understanding based on this Forbes article.
It's the same thing as not being able to register the same card with multiple airlines.
The best advice with iDine is to register only one card with any particular program.
That is, set up an account with one airline and register one credit card.
Then, set up another account with another airline and register another credit card.
And so on.
The reasons for this are:
* This gives you maximum control of where your miles go.
* While iDine limits you generally to 1 visit at a restaurant per month, this limitation doesn't exist in practice so long as each subsequent visit is credited to a different FF program.
You can certainly have iDine remove your existing cards (or all but 1 card) from your UPromise account.
Or, you can get more FF-earning credit cards!
There are lots of threads about that on this forum!

You can register a card with U-promise and use it with a different Idine program. When you edit your profile you'll see a box with the words 'Also registered for the Upromise dining program' at the bottom of the page. Just uncheck it if you don't want to participate in the Upromise dining program.

I agree, use 2 cards, have one registered for each (DFM & Upromise). One thing to keep in mind, there are actually more restaurants eligible for DFM than Upromise, so don't go by the Upromise website as far as those being the only restaurants eligible for the I-dine program

I just tried this ....
- log on to the Upromise site
- go to my_account/manage_profile
- at the credit card section you can chose to update or delete a registered card
- select UPDATE which brings you to a screen which describes your registration*
- scroll down you should be able to see the box
*the description for mine says my card is registered w/Upromise, but not registered w/UpromiseDining. When I make the selections described above and look for the box I find it is selected for me!! So I uncheck the box (just in case) and select cancel.
Hope this helps.I just tried this ....

VolRichard is correct. I was at some hole in the wall bar in downtown Detroit the other night before the Red Wings game and paid with my NWA Visa. I got the email yesterday stating I earned 550 miles for dining that night...lol, quite unexpected!
