Galileo fare codes - Iberia flight
Traveling on Iberia the transcontinental leg shows F5 A2 J9 D9 I9 which I interprete as F & A first class, J, D, I as business (no C class noted)
Can anyone interprete for me -- I am hoping to either pay to upgrade or be granted an op upgrade based upon one world status.

Thanks for the tip -- however I guess my question is what is the difference between F and A in first class? Same question about different fare classes in business -- is one designated for upgrades?

A is a First OneWorld Explorer
J is a full fare business
D is a business OneWorld Explorer
I is a group business fare
With all due respect, but judging from this and the other post, you are setting yourself for a big letdown. Upgrades do happen, but you are almost expecting one because of your status. Your best shot is paying for one, although I don't know if Iberia does it at the airport, and if they do, it's probably very expensive.
Personally I never expect an upgrade when I did not pay for it one way or another, and guess what? I have never been disappointed. I just got op-up on the last segment on AA from MIA-TPA(WOW, for the whole 30 minute flight!!!) couple of weeks ago. Did not ask for it. It was also the segment that put me over 100K miles for EXP. Before that as a Plat for a year, did not get any, unless I paid for it with stickers, miles or VIPOWs.
I would also guess the order for op-ups with any partner within OneWorld would be as follows:
The airliners own top tier,
OneWorld Emeralds
The airlines own middle tier
OneWorld Sapphire (you)
I'm sure the fare paid also gets tossed in to the mix.
I don't want to rain on your parade, and I do hope you get lucky, but I wouldn't get too excited about the possibility as it is slim at best.

thanks again for the tip -- I am happy to pay for upgrade but wanted to check inventory first
I have also been lucky by not expecting upgrades -- op upgrade BOS-LHR x2 and op upgrade DFW-HNL x1 on discount fare tickets as AA gold.
Again thanks for help -- I am just learning Galileo system and have trouble with the inventory codes.

A & D are not just used for OWE tickets, they are general 'first tier' discounted fares in First and Business respectivly. As an example, my employer has 2 tiers of discounts with BA/CX - the deepest discount booked in D, the next in J.
I class is 'second tier' discount for business class and is normally highly restricted, just like a cheap economy ticket. BA offer these for general sale, and AA from time to time.
Based on the load figures you have, I'd say you have very little chance of an op-upgrade. Unless economy is full, no-one is going to get upgrade when that many seats are available.

RachRB,
Because this has nothing to do with miles or points, and is specific to one airline I'm going to move it over to Other European Frequent Flyer Programs forum.
