Paying Mortgage while earning Miles

Hello, is there any way I can pay mortgage with my Citibank AAdvantage Card or Starwood AMEX?

My mortgage lender (a bank) does not accept Credit Card payment, only cash or check or monthly automatic payment drawn from Checking acct only. I don't want to do cash advance since I end up paying fees.

I heard there is possible way: using EFT. Do most mortgage lenders take EFT? And does CC company (such as Amex) issue EFT?

Thanks!

We've all gotten pretty creative with moving money around - here's a simple mortgage move:

1) Homeowner's Insurance - Many carriers will take CC payments. Sometimes you need to make first installment by check, but then can pay w/ CC.

2) Property Taxes - I don't know how widespread this is, but at least in NYC you can pay property tax online w/CC and no extra fees! It's worth checking.

You can usually notify the mortgage company in advance so your escrow withholding will be reduced.

Now what would be really cool would be to pay off your mortgage with miles! Now that would be awesome.

This is what I just found on c2it site, looks like they have disables transfer money from CC to c2it acct:

From which accounts can I Transfer Cash?

You may Transfer Cash from your c2it Account. You may not directly Transfer Cash from your linked credit card account, debit card account or bank account. If you'd like to move money between your linked accounts, first Add Cash to your c2it Account from one of your linked bank accounts and then Transfer Cash from your c2it Account into one of the linked accounts.

They changed their rules earlier this year. Before the change, I was able to earn about 10,000 American Airlines miles by moving my money in a circle, between my credit card, the C2IT account, to my checking account, and then do an EFT bill pay on Citibank's credit card site to transfer money from checking to my credit card. It worked great, since C2IT charged no fees and the transfer posted as a purchase on my credit card account. But all good things do come to an end.

Read the article in the recent international issue of inside flyer, the idea of getting a money order, and paying for it on credit card was great, until I found post offices don't let you buy money orders on your credit card!

Reading from earlier post, I have a Q.

Can I get Citibank / AAdvantage Debit card to get AA miles, by open a checking with Citibank.

Then I'll use it to buy money order from Alberson/Post Office, to pay my mortgage, etc..

The earlier threads said they can do the same for BofA check card.

But Citibank has a little text "Signature-based transactions"

What is it??

Tks

I would also like to know if the Citibank debit card can be used at post offices and Supermarkets for money orders (to pay mortgage). The Citibank website indicates that the card member must press "credit" in order to receive the miles.

Anyone had any experience in this matter?

Albertson doesnt take debit. And you only earn miles on signed purchses which are looked at as credit purchases. PIN based transactions do not earn miles. So anytime you have to use your PIN, you cant earn miles. Post Office doesnt earn miles for MO's either.

Correct. Since they're guaranteeing the money, they have to make sure they have a guaranteed financial instrument before they will issue the money order or cashier's check.

All the ones near me do. But its a PIN transaction to get the Money Order, so no miles and no need to bother.

AFAIK You can only get miles via debit/PIN by using the BofA/US checkcard. But you won't get miles for *post office* money orders...
