Rudi: as per my posting above, I will be at ORD on a layover on Monday March 8 from 18:45-20:50!! I suspect your flight will be from the mid-C gates...perhaps we can meet in more relaxed manner than our last encounter, say at the C-terminal RCC?? I'd love to buy you a Beck's Dark and pick your brain about Bangkok!

Mar 8 UA 915 CDG-IAD 12:45 15:20 777

This will be my first trip to Europe! My wife and I are very excited.

It will be my first ride on 777 as well. I used to fly with AA about 18K miles last a couple of years but starting this year I decided to switch to UA since I live near Dulles Airport and Dulles is a UA hub.

I never had any bad experience with AA but I'm taking a chance with UA this year...

Matt, my experience with UA flights from SJU to ORD: they were always (very) late.

tips for your SJU (I do some Rum Importing from there):
*a very-special, old-fashioned, hotel (run by an artist-couple, in the Old town): Galeria San Juan, calle Norzagaray, 204.
*have a drink (Planters Punch and/or Pina Colada) at the "El Mallorquin" Bar (Old town, )
*breakfast (starting at 7:30AM) sweets at La Bombonera, calle San Francisco 259 (Old town)
*Restaurant: El Patio del Sam, calle San Sebastian 102 (black bean soup, key lime tart, burger)
*airport lounge: United offers for First-class passengers a entrance-voucher to the American Express lounge, which is just next door to the UA departure-gate (an Amexco Gold card brings you in, too).

Rudi:

I can't believe you're gracing Chi-town with your presence!

I don't live too far from Carlucci, but I've never eaten there. Actually, one of my friends doesn't have a very high opinion of it. There's actually a very good Mexican place down the road near the Rosemont Theater if you'd want to do that. I would definitely be interested in meeting you (regardless of restaurant) since you can't come to the Boston get-together. Email me & we'll see what we can set up!

Regards,
- Anna

thank you AnnaS. You did just receive an Al Capone-like "OFFER YOU CAN'T REFUSE" by email.

Any other FlyerTalker here, who wants to support Anna on Sunday evening march-7 in Chicago trying to keep me awake (Chicago time 8PM, my inner watch 4AM)?

da**--wouldn't you know I'm going to be going to CHI over the weekend of the 26th and the 12th!

Anna is right about the Mexican place--parking is tough during the day but evening is probably OK.

2 other good places--Pazzo's on Higgins (near Cumberland El) and Basilico's (further south on Cumberland (Cumberland El to West Lawrence bus (?)

I'm a victim of United's screwy deal with Gulfstream for intra-Florida--can't ticket those flights as UA independently

We'll try CO/NW reciprocity-as silver NW should be interesting if I get any "no certificate upgrades"

Rudi,

It figures you are in the U.S. when I'm in Switzerland. If you happen to be near Geneva from Mar 1-10th, let me know.

stimpy: everthing in Switzerland is "near" Geneva-airport - as the longest distance you can travel (if the roads are open at all - snow/avallenges) without getting to France/Germany/Austria/Fuerstentum Lichtenstein/Italy is 330 km (200 miles) ...

But I'll let you know if I can/want/may to improve my french for a day or so in my compatriot's western part of "my" Confoederatio Helvetica (thats is why the abbreveation/postal-code for Switzerland is CH).

Rudi: Thanks for the Old San Juan tips! If you are right and my SJU-ORD is delayed, then we may just be destined to only see eachother in 30 second segments rushing to catch flights at least until this fall at the Party in Paradise !!!!

Jamiel: I quit my annual "Parrot-fest" in Key West last year due to the problems with Gulfstream from tpa-eyw and mia-ewy through United. Besides, Key West has become too much of a New Orleans East anyway...
