Transfer miles with cc programs?
Can you always transfer miles from these credit card programs to the airline partner of your choice, or do you have to book the award with the original airline. For example the Alaska Airlines card has partners with AA, CO etc. If I accumulate miles on this card can I transfer them directly to the program of my choice where I will book my award travel?

No, you don't transfer those miles to the partner programs. It is not the credit card that has other airline partners, but rather the Alaska Air program. In your case, the miles remain in the Alaska Air program, but can be used for what are referred to as "partner awards" from Alaska Air. Refer to the Alaska terms and conditions or program information on their website to determine how to redeem awards on the other airlines using Alaska's mileage.

I know that AMEX can transfer miles to any of their FF partners. What other cards besides Starwood let you do this?

Most hotel programs offer transfers to airline points, so accumulating miles with Marriott, Hilton, Priority Club, etc. will accomplish this -- but the best credit card --> hotel points --> airline miles rate belongs to Starwood.
Also, in addition to American Express Membership Rewards, you can use a Diners Club card to transfer points into airline miles with more or less whomever you wish.
