Treasury Direct & Credit Cards

Is it possible for me to buy bonds electronically using Treasury direct and pay for them with my credit card. The site is wishy washy about this info.

Follow the link the first responder provided. You're absolutely correct- they are being very fuzzy about this- although that stands to reason as they've already gone on notice buying savings bonds w/ credit cards is too expensive and will be discontinued after 12/03. Buy all you can now.

Actually savings bonds is yes and no. You can buy paper bonds and charge them to a credit card. But if you open a TreasuryDirect account, where bonds are electronically kept for you (no actual paper bonds issued) they only do it by electronic funds transfer from a bank account (no credit cards). When the Treasury totally stops issuing paper bonds (probably at the start of next year), credit card purchases will be totally discontinued, if not sooner.

I thought so too, but I hoped there was some way to buy electronic bonds with a credit card. Thanks for the confirmation.
