Bonus miles and new member
Hello,
We are planning on traveling in August to Saipan from Seattle. I have 27,000 miles with Alaska, 3,854 with NWA and she has 3,500 with NWA also. Doesn't look like we can use them for anything right now.
I am willing to sign up for a new credit card, mileage program, etc. in order to get bonus upgrades and free tickets.
Is there a better airline to fly on like NWA or Continental? I read to fly the wide bodies and where do you get your good deals on flying two adults?
Thanks

Pretty much all TPAC flights will be on widebody aircraft.
Your best bets for SPN from SEA will be on either NW (connect in NRT, both flights on A330s) or on DL/OZ (connecting in ICN, 777 on DL, A330 on OZ). The NW connection will earn about 7200 miles each way, the DL/OZ about 8100. Both DL and NW flights will earn miles on any SkyTeam FF program, so you can use your existing NW accounts, but OZ is in a different alliance.
If the DL+NW merger goes through it'll all end up being DL anyway ...
Oh yes -- welcome to FT!

there may be a credit card offering a 20k bonus
then check the procedures for international upgrades
20k aded to your 27k may give you enough for an upgrade
and you may need to concentrate spending on the other card to get it up to a level for a free upgrade
free flights are probably out, as they are in the the 60k-70k mileage range
