Can anyone offer advice, on the best way to use Restauants.com and Rewards Network's idine, in combo. for a better advantage then each program offers when used alone?

Sure:

Step 1: Find restaurants that are participating in both programs.

Step 2: Make sure you have the right card registered with the right mileage program that you are trying to earn in.

Step 3: Make sure that you go on the correct days-for instance a lot of the certificates through restaurant.com are Sunday thru Thursday for instance, and many Rewards Network restaurants also vary the days they reward miles.

Step 4: Do a google search for "Restaurant.com coupon code" and you should get results for 40-70% off coupon codes. (The higher %-off codes come out at the end of each month, but then there are often less restaurants available)

Step 5: Purchase the restaurant.com certificates through a mileage mall shopping portal--check and make sure that the T&C's allow for you to use coupons. This will get you miles on the certificate purchase through the mall plus your mileage earning CC. (I just got miles through the AA portal even though I believe it says no coupons allowed, YMMV)

Step 6: Go to the restaurant. Present Rest.com cert. Eat. Pay remainder with Rewards Network registered CC. Keep CC receipt for verification.

Lastly, Try to use a credit card that gives you more points per dollar for restaurants in their proprietary program...for instance I use Citi Professional, so I also get the 3 TYP/$1 for that program.

So this happened recently for me:

Purchased 1 $25 Restaurant.com cert at 70% off through the AA.com shopping portal: $3 and 15 AA miles.

Ate lunch at the restaurant. Bill came to $35 with tip. Charged the remaining $10 to Citi Professional: $10 and 100 NW miles (5+5) and 5 points in the Miles2Go promotion and 30 Thank-you points.

So, all told, got a $35 lunch at a place I would go to anyway for $13, plus got 15 AA miles, 100 NW miles (+5 Miles2Go) and 30 TY points. Not too shabby! ^

I just used my Starwood Amex for the $3 Rest.com purchase, hence the 3 Starpoints.
