Airline Auctions?
Can anyone tell me whether Delta is the only airline that is doing these auctions. I have that URL. Would be very interested in others particularly American.
Thanks

I know of:
UA: last one ended jan-15-99 for skiing in Utah (I did participate, but my bidding of 122'223 miles was no good).
LH: online auctions, last one was from march-5 to 7-99.

Sort of OMNI:
Rudi, actually the latest one (it may or may not still be going on) is/was a trip to LA first class and VIP treatment at the Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno (get to meet him, picture, etc.) but maybe this is/was only open to the US? It'd be cool if I wasn't saving my miles.

Canadian Airlines (CP) also has auctions. While not AA, they do have a very tight relationship with AA. The auctions can be found at:
http://www.cdnair.ca/eng/cpi/01discover/index.html
Click on Awards Auction
Regardless of who's auction you participate in, make sure you know what you are bidding on, and what it is worth. Every once in a while you'll see someone bid 66,000 points for an award you can purchase normally for 60,000 points.

Ken,
All the points from the award auction on Canadian Airlines (CP) go to charity. This is why the bidding is always very close to the true value and sometimes exceeds it. By bidding 66,000 points on a 60,000 point item, you are donating 66K points o charity AND getting a free trip out of it.
The CP award auction isn't too great if you are bargain-hunting but if you are planning a trip anyway - it's a good way to donate your cake and eat it too

Thanks for the info, I didn't know that. I think it's just too cool that CP is doing that. I'm going to start watching more carefully for flights that I might use, and start bidding on them.
