Please help with upgrading to business

I am trying to fly from Chicago to Berlin on 9/7 and return from Brussels on 9/19 or 20. I am open to using miles or upgrading with miles but have tried to read the seat counter chart for AA, UA or BA and not having much luck understanding. I think that I can see that tickets are not available on AA but I am not sure. If anyone has the time to check for me it would be appreciated. I really am willing to fly thru any european city on my way to Berlin. I do need 2 tickets. Thanks

AA miles - AA award or upgrade - lieflat
ORD-BRU-THF

UA miles - AC award - flatbed

on aa at least, you have to call them to book an open jaw reward....you could, in the same call, ask about mi's plus copay upgrades.....

your dates are specific, so i would call each a/l on which you have enough mi's and ask....be prepared to act if something is available....

good luck...

Even if you can find some data online, for United it's best to call to book these things. Although they'll charge you ($15?), they can see all the *A availability right away.

I agree. I hate to pay the fee but I would call the airlines for this. It is especially important since there may be availability on some routings but not others. You might even find for instance, availability on UA from IAD to Europe but not from ORD directly.
