Based on USAFAN’s second posting I called the Citibank number again. The first time I called the person who answered insisted that I had to have a ten-digit number, printed above the name on Citibank’s flier. She checked out my last name and zip code and stated that I had not been solicited for the card. Finally, she told me to go look for the number and call back if I found it. The second time round, I was also asked for the ten-digit number and the representative also checked out the last name / zip code combination. This time, however, I was more insistent, emboldened by USAFAN’s second posting. After some more research based on name/zip, she said something like ‘they must have misspelled your name’. Finally, she consulted a supervisor and took my application, stating that, if approved, I would indeed receive 10,000 miles and have the fee waived for the first year. So … if you want to go through all that, it may work.

ajnaro:
Well done. If and when you get the card and the miles, you can do the same for Mrs. ajnaro! Good luck. |
I just got off the phone, and I'm a proud new owner of an AAdvantage Business Mastercard owner.....complete with 10,000 bonus miles and the fee waived the first year.
I called regarding the offer. They tried to look me up, but weren't able to since I didn't receive the offer. I told her I had moved around recently. We tried different zips, but of course nothing worked. She then told me that she was sorry, but that I was unable to receive the offer. Instead, she could offer me another special offer they were running......which was....can you guess?.....10,000 bonus miles and the annual fee waived the first year. Go figure. So, give them a call if you're interested. Be prepared to give them info as if you were a business owner. They'll ask for both a business and home address, what kind of business you have, what your business tax id is, how many employees you have, what the businesses annual revenue is. I just told them that I was a consultant, owned a business that just had me as an employee, and had a tax id that was the same as my SS# (which I believe is true for single-employee sole proprietorships). Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions. |
I too just applied for the offer. Couple of hints/heads-up:
- Option 3 when the computer picks up your phone call. - I too tried the zip code run-around and the lady then indicated that they have a default offer. You may just be able to ask for this up-front. - They will ask you if you are an officer of the company -- I'm president of my consulting firm. - And then give you the option of selecting self-employed or sole-proprietor (which I thought was the same thing). - SS# = Tax payer ID for self-employed (in Texas at least) Here are the terms of the card: APR -- 9.9% + prime Bal. transfer -- 1.9% for 6 months (no fees) Annual fee -- $75 (but waived for the 1st year) 10,000 bonus AA miles after first purchase. Good luck! |

Hi,
There is no phone number to call and I have to mail it out. Also, the APR for balance transfer is 9.9 %. |
I just applied successfully. w/o the mailing. I just asked for the "default" thanks to the above post.
|
let me just add a few thing. I did not do the run around at all. just called, ask for default promotion. told them I never got the mailing. they gave me the 10,000 miles / no 1st year fee deal.
|
I tried this deal today. Called and asked for the default deal. Everything was fine until CSR mentioned the $75 annual fee. I told her my friend got it with the fee waived the first year. She said she didn't see anything about that??? So I said forget it. Should I try again with another CSR?

CNN Headline News has run commercials for an AA Citibank Mastercard with a 10,000-mile bonus for at least a few weeks now. The phone number is 800-451-3113. I don't know the exact terms because I haven't called, but at least it's available to the general public with no codes.
If anyone knows if there's less to this offer than meets the eye, please let us know! |
Does the ad offer to waive the fee for the first year?

when I called, the CSR rep did mention 1st fee waived.

Can you cancel after the miles post? They're the only reason I'd get the card.
