Help Using Miles/Certs/Others at Monterey, CA. DoubleTree Hotel
Hello Everyone -
Looking for help getting discount/free night's stay at the hugely popular DoubleTree Hotel in Monterey, CA.
I think DoubleTree is part of the Hilton chain but I don't have any HHonors points. Worse still, the hotel claims it does not accept HHonors points redemption. Nor does it honor the Entertainment Card rate, nor will it accept an airlines' frequent flyer miles in exchange for accommodations.
Does anyone have ideas [other than Priceline which will NOT guaranty accommodations at this particular hotel]/possible 50% off certs which might be redeemable at this particular hotel in May?
Thanks so very much.

First the bad news -- you are absolutely correct, the Monterey Doubletree does not belong to the honors program, even though last September I booked a room there on the Hilton website, go figure. So no points, miles, upgrades, breakfast . . ., but they will offer you a stale, but warm, cookie and charge you $13 a day for parking, $15 if you valet. Now the good news, the Monterey Hilton is not far away from the same attractions and the rates are usually substantially cheaper, the rooms larger and staff friendlier. While you won't get a stale cookie, you'll get your points, miles, upgrade and breakfast. Plus, parking is free.

smarten,
First, welcome to Flyertalk. As this is not a "Miles" Buzz type posting I'll move it to a place where you might get better answers. Let's try the Hilton board, as there are probably a number of lurkers who are familiar with this hotel.
