What to do with ATA points

I have enough points for a free roundtrip ticket on ATA and want to fly from Chicago. I wanted to go Washington DC but they cancelled that service recently. It also seems they cancelled service to New York City. Apparently they only go to Oakland, California .

Should I take a trip to Oakland or wait till they add more routes, or is that unlikely given the trend?

This should probably be posted in the "Other North American" forum, where I suspect it will be moved...

If you WANT to visit the SF Bay Area, go to Oakland. Otherwise, I wouldn't do it just to take a random trip. I don't really know if waiting is worthwhile, because (a) your points will expire, and (b) ATA has recently been cancelling routes, not adding them.

Note that if you have 7250 points (somewhat more than the amount required for a free round-trip), you can convert them to 16 RapidRewards credits, i.e. a free ticket on Southwest. So, another option besides going to OAK or waiting would be to earn some more points and then get a free ticket on WN.

Thanks. Any suggestion on how to get the extra 1250 points so I can have the required 7250 to transfer to Southwest ? I doubt Ill ever fly on ATA again since they do not fly anywhere I am interested in going. I suppose I could use their credit card for $1250 worth of purchases, is it 1 point to 1$/spend? Do they offer a business version of their credit card to get an additional 3k bonus?

Credit Cards? Hotel Stays? ATA's program is not fantastic, but has some value.
