I fly AUA often to Eastern Europe starting at JFK, since the beginning of this year they have terminated their handling agreement with LH and LH no longer handles check in, the means no first class check in for SEN, and it seems that AUA on a whole is very selective in honoring star alliance policy. example LH claims that a SEN is allowed an extra bag to be checked as courtesy, they always did it when they checked in for AUA now with Swiss port handling check in they no longer let you check a third bag.

I asked miles and more hotline if the extra bad rule should be applied universally and for example with AUA, they said there were not sure of all partners but that AUA should to the best of their Knowledge honor the extra allowance for SEN.

Anyone know what the official rule is and how it should work?

never been a problem for me (Senator) to check-in with OS/NG in ZRH, VIE, MEL or SYD (all weight concept flights) as many pieces as I want, as long as, even when flying in eco, the total weight was not exceeding first-class limit = 40kg iinstead of only 20kg (and OS doesn't even have a first-class).

I didn't fly OS yet on flight segments (transatlantic) where the piece concept would apply, but I would very friendly insist on my (Senator) 3 pieces allowance (I always have the joint printed OS/LH) miles&more guide, stating these allowances, with me.

Seems like a perfect question to pose on the LH board (arguably, the *A forum).
