Well, maybe your 1-yr old has better manner than mine. Everytime I put him down on his carseat he started crying - forcing me to hold him the entire way. (BTW, I didn't buy that extra seat - I use the vacant seat next to me.) I actually canceled all leisure travel until my son was 1 - it's easier to him, myself and everyone on the plane.
And your kid traveled more than 25k mile last year. Oh lord, don't you have a home?

Maybe it's not relevant to this topic, but are the NW flights to Europe actually the nonstop to AMS codeshare with KLM? I've had far better experiences in coach on KLM than on NW, and for $400, I'd go for it. Sure, it's a long flight, and Schiphol can be a pain, but for $400... That's just my .02

As a marathoner myself, I say that the runners will earn their own "miles" in the race by running 26.2 of them.
So BURN 'EM!
You can always get more miles on an airline but one day, maybe the running kind will the only ones you can rally redeem!
BURN 'EM!
of course, you may have made your decision already but if not... do it.

If speed is not your thing, distance may as well be. Enjoy and embrace it all!

good luck mate!
if you have done one before then you know to wear a shirt with your name on it!
The boosts one gets from the crowd when tired and parched are much needed at times!
Think GU!
MM(will you get miles when you fly there? Hope so! In fact, I hope that's WHY you are going!)

Last year I had a fun time with a mile fry. Burned through 980,000 LH miles on flights (only one was F, rest Eco - lots of awards!). Got all the way down to 12,000. Now I am rebuilding and am looking forward to burning again.
