Delta Platinum benefit - Please Help
Please, please help!
My wife just became Delta Platinum Medallion for the first time this January 2003. The following is what I remember reading about Platinum benefits at the Delta Web site last year, (The Page has now been changed for 2003/2004):
For Platinum Award Travel, if there is a seat on the plane, you can use your miles and acquire it using an award ticket for domestic or international travel. (No capacity restrictions.)
A Delta Agent has just told me my understanding is incorrect. The Delta agent told me the perk is that Delta will SELL you a domestic ticket on any flight, regardless of whether it was sold out.
Was I misreading the benefit statement?
Thanks. Thanks. Thanks.

I think you are remembering incorrectly ... like the DL agent told you, they would sell you the last seat on the plane if you called a certain number of hours ahead (24 or 48 I think), but not just give you an award for the standard mileage amount.
Note that any member of SkyMiles can redeem an award for any open coach seat just by using double the number of miles normally required for a SkyChoice Award (I think that's the right name, without going to look it up).

Welcome Scott. I'll move your post to the Delta forum. The "experts" that hang out there can add additional comments.
