As a United 1K watching Delta's changes from the sidelines, I have to admit that I feel differently from most the posters here.
I actually think Delta's changes seem well thought-out and represent the airline trying to align its program with the interests of those providing it with the most revenue -- it is, after all, a business and in business to make money for its shareholders.
I also think the airline has tried to give more to those who complained in the past by making certain low-price fares upgradeable.
If United implemented these same changes, I don't think that I would be upset, given that my ultimate goal is that the airline survive and thrive in order to pay employees to take care of passengers and to implement changes that benefit them.
Give Delta a break. They're trying to do something that has been needed and necessary for far too long. Hopefully, it will help to keep them in business unlike so many other of its peers.

I recognize that loss of my revenue in 04 and onwards will not impact DL but based on the reactions here, I think these changes will cause DL a net loss.
