Houston to London
OK, I need some real help this time. I'm planning a trip from Houston to London. I'm traveling on Continental. I have never been to Europe from Houston. I don't mind long flights in coach, but I want to know is this really a long agonzing flight? I have the miles to upgrade to Business/First Class, BUT I rather save them for a free trip later. This trip will earn me 20,000 miles that I can use later, plus I will save 40,000 miles not upgrading. An upgradeable ticket is $400 more than a restricted ticket. Any comments are welcome, Thank You!

Welcome to FlyerTalk!
It's a matter of what you and your body can tolerate. You're looking at about 10 hours out and 11 hours back. I've done Europe in Y and don't mind that much. Obviously J is better, but if it's out of my pocket, I wouldn't spend the extra $400 + miles. Then again, that's me. Others here whine if they have to do a transcon in Y.
If you have status with CO and could EUA a domestic portion, you may want to book IAH-EWR-LGW or IAH-IAD/JFK-LHR with the overwater portion on the Virgin codeshare.
Just some ideas.

You probably ought to get the opinion of people who hang over at the Continental "water cooler" (i.e. thread board). I'll move you query over there.
