a question about online ticketing bonus miles

I am responsible for booking some flights for a group of people. I am just wondering if I can collect the ticketing bonus miles through the airline online reservation from each of the passenger I book the ticket for? (sorry for the grammatically incorrect sentence - it has been a long day!) Some insights will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

my experience has been that each person being ticketed needs to have their own ff number, and (sometimes) the online bonus goes to their account, even when you buy the ticket for them. i'm not aware of any airline that would give you all the bonuses for multiple-person bookings.

You will not get the online booking bonus (furthermore, for some airlines if you book them all together only one person may get the online booking bonus, so make sure in that case that they are booked separately). If you use your credit card, you will get the perks associated with your credit card.

United gives each person the online bonus, but the person booking it can not collect the others' bonuses.

Past experience shows one bonus per person with Northwest.

Note: my wife recently flew on a free mileage ticket from my WorldPerks account. Even though her name was on the ticket, it showed that the miles came from my account. We used the e-ticket check-in at SEA and I earned 1,000 bonus miles (NW promotion) even though it was a free ticket!

burkey - good guess. Indeed, these people are going to the conference. However, I am just doing the dirty work - won't be attending the conference myself! Blah! Are you going to the conference?

And thanks to everybody who helped me out! I really appreciate your help.

While I agree with all the above, there is still a chance for you to cash in. Hyatt, and likely others, do provide huge bonuses for booking rooms and meetings. They can go to anyone who puts it together and claims them. The bonus is up to 50,000 points or several nights depending on category of room.

OMNI: Yep, I'l be there, Mar 11-14. You're not going or not attending the conference? Conferences are only 20% work, right?? I'll also be the new Liaison from the International Health Action Group of AMSA to the International Society of Travel Medicine. Sounds impressive, no?

Also, you may be able to get a Group City Specials (from AA's website)
Group & Meeting Travel, American's group sales organization, is pleased to offer additional discounts off our current group fares for groups of 10 or more traveling together between the cities listed below. These fares are lower than fares normally offered by Group & Meeting Travel. The destinations listed below are available for booking at Group City Specials rates through February 28, 1999, with all travel completed by May 31, 1999.

To receive this information monthly via e-mail, please forward a request to: Group and Meeting Travel E-mail

Contact American Airlines Group & Meeting Travel at 1-800-221-2255 today and save on flights between these cities and many others.

Of course, I seemed to cut this off before the city pairs.

demeter -- forgot to tell you, if you don't know already, if you use the following codes that AMSA has, you can get discounted fares. (I didn't since AA wasn't offered, so I don't know what you'll get.)

United: 525HV
Southwest: E7589

burkey - your information is a day late, a dollar short! I just booked everybody's flight on UAL! I can't believe it! But thanks for your information. Next time I know (if there's a next time)! But no, I will not be in Chicago for the conference. Going to Mexico instead.

demeter -- sorry, thought they would have had that info, it was with the conf reg. form. Like I said, I fly AA so I didn't bother checking what type of discount was offered. OMNI: Mexico is better and warmer anyway! If you need any advice/info on Cancun or Acapulco let me know, been to both several times.
