NW is partners with Alaska Airlines.

AA is partners with Alaska Airlines.

this means if you happened to have say 35k with Alaska and 35k with AA you could use NWA for two people to fly to Hawaii.

There's no other case I know of where a One World airline partners with a Sky Team airline.

This might be a moot issue very soon
See the NWA and DL boards for news and specs.

Alitalia and Qantas are partners. I think even AF and Qantas are partners (or at least they codeshare)

Ciao,

You can book SkyTeam and other partner rewards online with NW and even choose seats, but not with DL (and Delta will charge another fee for phone redemptions!)

However, I would still prefer 100% DL to 80% NW. I have no status with either.

The WorldPerks program is a better program than the SkyMiles program, but Delta is currently a much better airline than Northwest.

Are you going to attempt elite status? If so, your only chance is to go Delta. Unfortunately northwest does not give elite qualifying miles to China Airlines flights.

Also, consider what fare bucket you are in as Northwest doesn't give full redeemable miles for many fares.

http://www.nwa.com/worldperks/earn/a...shtml#chinaair

Earning Banked Miles
100% of actual miles flown (500-mile minimum): F, A, J, C, D, Y, B, M, T
80% of actual miles flown (500-mile minimum): K, Q
60% of actual miles flown (500-mile minimum): H, N
Miles not earned in the following classes: L, X, G, V, W, Z, E, U, R, I, O, S

China Airlines flights do not count towards Elite qualification.
