Will AA's Award Changes be Copied?

Smarterliving.com is reporting that
beginning May 1, 2003, we will have to redeem at least 5,000 more American miles for several types of AAnytime and PlanAAhead award travel. I haven't heard that other airlines are rushing to follow suit, but it's hard to believe they won't. Comments?

AA is following the lead of a number of other airlines. So there is nothing for those airlines to follow.

For example, UA significantly raised award levels as of October 1.
