"I think that's what made FT such a valuable resource for so many. Even the hint that there is a "private list" where even better information exists would poison the community by creating an "us vs. them" mentality."

Plato, well said.

Don't let a few bad apples spoil the pie. Keep up the posting, because that is what make this a great family.

As far as lurkers v. posters, I would welcome the opportunity to contribute information that would save members considerable cash but unfortunately I am usually a day late or a dollar short. Everytime I think that I have a great deal, I get on line and it has already been posted or there is an even better deal. Although today is the first time I have read MilesBuzz, Flyertalk is a regular stop for me. I have greatly appreciated all the information and an waiting for the day that I have something valuable to share.

Well said, Wannagotoo.
I feel exactly the same way. I thank everyone for openly sharing information they have and being so helpful to those of us with questions. I too am looking forward to the day I can contribute more as I gain knowledge.

Well what can I say that hasn't been said already?

FT is a give and take forum. I'm all for people posting good deal and loopholes. What they get in return is when someone else posts something that can help them.

What I don't like is when someone just takes and takes and takes, like those people who registered last week who post in coupon connection "Want SWU...".

I used to be a bit of a lurker, mainly because I couldn't really help much. But as I've become more how should I put this, FT-savvy, I've helped out whenever I can.

One thing I am against is a list. I think it's better that everyone has access to this stuff, even if it means someone will exploit it, than only those on the list getting the info and most of us missing out. Who would decide who gets on the list and who doesnt?

My 2 cents worth.

If it will help others on FlyerTalk, post it. If a loophole is closed because of this, one of us will find something else and we'll again be off to the races.

Hi, i am very new to Flyertalk.com and read this discussion about loopholes.

specifically the one that talked about what UNITED969 told about last months error about the $59 + tax Orbitz *Error fares* from all MX gateways for Business Class fares to PVR

where was this error information posted ? ?

in elliots email or some other place.

my job has just decided that i will be flying to lax 2 times per month from msp for the next 6 months so i have signed up for WP with NW and am just looking forward to making miles.

HI again -

i am still wondering if SOMEONE could give me an answer about were was the 59.00 orbitz error business class fare posted to

which of the flyertalks or where is was ???

Getting back to the original question (To post or not?) I think the answer is simple: If everyone kept their secrets to themselves, FT would cease to exist. Everybody would lurk, never find anything and so nobody would share.

One issue that hasn't really been addressed: What's the downside for the original poster? Not much. Sure, the deal may eventually "dry up" (e.g., hotel realizes it has a $10 room rate on its web site), but by that time the poster has already taken advantage of the deal.

Contribute and feel good about brightening someone else's day.
