Miles for Personal checks?

I have to buy some more personal checks and I was wondering if there is any way to get miles for doing so. Thanks

Are you talking about earning miles for buying the checks or earning miles by using checks to pay for purchases? If it's the former, I have no idea on specifics but I'm sure there's a check printing partner with one of the FF shopping portals. If it's the latter, I haven't heard of any bank that gives you miles for using checks. Seems a little backwards in this day and age...

The only miles you will get is from the printing charge if you use your credit card (though most check printers simply debit your bank account).

Actually it would make good sense for banks to awards miles for checks as they don't have to pay a fee to VI/MC to process the transaction plus they get use of the float as most people don't have interest bearing accounts. Then again it does cost to process paper checks, so processing a $2K check is likely more profitable than a $20 one.

There is, of course, no need to purchase checks through the bank. You can earn miles through various online shopping portals if you order office supplies from Office Depot, Staples, Office Max etc. Example...

I think Mia is telling you that if you order from Staples (or the like) you can likely get miles thru other means. I didn't know Staples had checks (or let's say I never thought about checking) and their prices aren't bad. I will remember this the next time I need to order checks. I'm sure mypoints has some connection thru Staples or Office Depot. Or NW mall.

I too still write a few checks here and there. When close to out, there are several check ordering services that can be done online but most of the time, the bank will send you more for free if you have some error and then are able to convince them to make it up to you in that way, or if you are really nice to them when you call. I dont think I have paid for check reorders in years! If I needed to, I would probably go online to look first. If it did not work, I guess there ARE a few places left in the world when you cannot earn miles for your purchase and this could be one. good luck! And let us know if you find one what it is.

Also as a follow-up, if you do decide to order more pre-printed checks online, I would recommend buying from www.checkgallery.com. Low prices and fast shipment...and environmentally friendly!

(No I don't work for these guys, just a very satisfied customer)

NWA WP Mall, staples = 4m/$1. I liked how 2 weeks ago I ordered software that had a $40 rebate and yet the product itself was $39.95. I ordered other stuff to get the free shipping threashold and of course, there'll be reward points and then the CC miles. AND Perkology's NWA bonus for using the online mall with Northwest.

I know that was off topic but staples has been good to many so why not share it?

As for checks, I think stores like Staples are even able to order some for you thru one of their services. I think I heard something about that once. You may need to initiate this in a store, however.

No miles, but Costco sells (on the website) very good value checks, and even cheaper for Executive Members. IMHO, saving fifty bucks trumps getting fifty miles.

No miles...but the cheapest (and really nice!) checks I've found are at www.checkworks.com . I think it's about $7.95/box including shipping.
