Delta Miles

My company negotiated with Delta for better prices. Now Delta does not give us the miles or segments becuase of the lower fares. I have heard that there are ways to get the miles and segments after the fact. The tickets the company purchases are still averaging over $500 for one way domestic. It a shame that Delta wont even give us credit for segments let alone the miles. Any suggestions!!!!

I would just think you're out of luck if that's what your company negotiated. You could try mailing in your boarding passes after the flight for credit and see what happens, but this doesn't seem right being that you knew what the conditions were when the ticket was issued.

Do you have any workarounds (such as flying another carrier that might offer the same, or lower, fare)? That might seem your best option. Some flyers here have been able to get their companies to allow them to fly alternate carriers if they can beat the fare (or pay the difference if the fare is more). Might be worth looking at it from that angle instead.

You might want to post in the Delta forum for possibly more responses from the Delta FTers. Welcome!

Is the premise of the post correct that Delta is not giving segments or miles? I had thought that only US Air was doing that, and even they backed down on that portion of it.

I read it to be that his company has negotiated fares that preclude accumulating miles, and he wanted to work around that to get miles in some manner.

Ahhh, I understand.

I would suggest if they are paying $500 for a one way that doesn't earn miles show them you can probably fly for less on a restricted ticket anybody can get online and save them money, and earn you the miles. Do the math out to show how many times you have actually had to change a ticket once it was issued, and if it's not at all then you should easily win the argument.

We had a similar situtation with a company I worked for, everything had to be through the inhouse agent and nothing was cheap. I would get pricing from them, look it up online, and show the same city pairs on the same airline could be had for $350 instead of $1500, and it wasn't much of an argument that either the agent had to book the $350 flights or they were gone. On top of the $1,500 they wanted to charge us $25 for screwing us.

If they have negotiated fares that you can not get on your own, then I think you lose this one, but if they are not getting better fares then you can, they would be foolish not to listen.
