Smile aadvantage fee reduction or?

I have had an aa gold since 03,tired of the annual fee. has anyone found how to get it removed, or can you canc. it out and re-apply again in ??? months and get the miles bonus and free 1 year waiver again? I am also thinking about taking out the CITI premiere pass as it seems to hve the same redemption rate and no fee + 10000 miles(points) that I can use on AA. The reason we have stayed w/ AA is we ONLY go to Bonaire once a year and they seem to be the best for Michigan flights. Couldnt find ff seats this year so will have enough for 2 FF seats next feb(if I can find them)

This probably belongs in the credit card forum since it apparently deals with the Citi AAdvantage card.

The short answer is, yes, many have canceled the card and reapplied to avoid the annual fee, or opened multiple accounts. Some have also called and successfully had the fee waived.

There's a lot of discussion on churning these cards here:

Many also like the Citi Premier Pass, and there's a lot of discussion of that, too, in the Credit Cards forum.
