base miles/credit cards

I've been using a Delta AMEX platinum card as a way to get 10,000 base miles per year (after spending $25,000). Does anyone know if there are other frequent flyer credit cards which also result in earning base miles?

Northwest did it with their credit card partner at the end of 2001 as a way to requalify because of 9/11. Currently you can do the same with the US Airways Dividend Miles credit card - $25,000 spend counts 10,000 miles into your Preferred base miles.

Are there any other affinity credit cards or new ways that a FF can receive base miles for 2002?

Prior to 9-11 I had a sure bet that I was going to charge $25,000 on the Delta/Am Ex card. Since, no way!

I continued to use the Delta/Am Ex through all the double miles offers. Now I am using my AA card most often with the idea of down grading my Delta/ Am Ex card when it comes up for renewal.

I'm sure I'm not the only person in this situation.

I found the best mileage earning card is Bank of America thru US Airways. I was given a FREE lounge pass in their US Airways Club, bonus miles, and offers of companion passes with excellent customer service. I am going to close my Citibank AAdvantage card just as soon as I have earned all the miles I need. Read my remarks in the Credit Card forum under Visa/Mastercard.

It's not exactly earning base miles - but assuming you want the base miles for status, you get lifetime Gold (first tier; some airlines use this term for 2nd tier) on AA for one million miles from any source, including charges on any AA-miles-earning credit card. Two million gets you lifetime Platinum (2nd tier).
