Inside Flyer Magazine

Howdy folks,

Need some help here.

I've read the Inside Flyer website - I love it. I'd like to buy a subscription for myself and a couple of other FF's that I know.

Here's question for the gurus:

1 - I fly mostly AA and stay at mostly Hiltons. Secondary (about 5% of my travel) is Delta and Marriot; given this - what 'points offer' should I take when buying the subscriptions?

Thanks in advance,

Pakse

Well, the current thought would be that you should take the SPG points, transfer them to the Qantas program, then redeem AA awards from within the Qantas program.

Howdy,

If I have say, 7500 Qantas points, and say 20000 AA points --> Any way I can combine them to get a 25,000 economy ticket AA award?

Thanks,

Pakse

No, but you can transfer 20K SPG points into 25K AA miles.

Awesome - if I can redeem SPG points for AA points - I'm home free.

Thanks much, I must have missed this.

Pakse - SPG has the following conversions with these airlines.
Keep in mind that if you transfer 20K you get a 5K bonus, so your 20K+5K=25K.

so 4 subscriptions equals 10,000 Quantas Miles, which equals 20,000 SPG which equals 25,000 AA?

Looks like someone has decided to profit from the Inside Flyer promo on Ebay.

Another 500K auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1345610140

Just out of pure curiosity - do the airlines monitor sites like ebay for people who sell 'coupons' etc. on a regular basis ?

If this is the case, the seller may be on much firmer legal ground.

While you're not allowed to sell your AA miles, I don't think there are any rules against Starwood-to-AAdvantage transfers.

The same seller also has a VIPOW for sale on eBay, so he's not worried about the AA cops.

HI Pakse-

Since you seem to be interested in domestic (US) coach awards, be aware that (According to the chart at:
http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/...erAwardTables)

20,000 Starpoints= 25,000 AAdvantage miles

20,000 Starpoints= 50,000 Qantas points. According to the chart above, an AA award through Qantas (for between 2001-5400 miles) is 30,000 points in Coach and 45,000 in Business

So, for 20,000 starpoints you can put the points into AAdvantage and fly a coach r/t, or you can fly in AA biz through Qantas and have 5,000 points left over!

Does this math check out?

Are we sure this 500,000 mile auction (just about to end) and another one he has up for 100,000 miles is from this promo. I thought for SPG to mileage transfers had to be done to your own account. Something on the SPG site that says the names on the accounts have to be the same.

I called and confirmed that both the name and address must be identical for a transfer.
