Transfer Orphan Miles to HHonors?

I have some orphan miles in Alaska Airlines, America West and Northwest (about 3000 miles each). I need 775 HHonors points.

The HHonors site http://www.hilton.com/en/hhonors/rew...change_1.jhtml does not list any direct way to do a conversion from those airlines. Is there an indirect way? Efficiency is not particularly important...I just need to get those few extra HHonors points to make another free night for an early-August vacation.

I expect to get 2000 points by upgrading my profile on July 1, but I'm not certain if that would leave enough time for making the reservation and receiving the reward certificate...can you make award reservations without enough point balance at the time?

Just 775 miles?

Can't you just get a Hilton AMEX or Visa and take the bonus points? (Or charge savings bonds on the 0% APR Intro Rate Visa redeem in 6 months?)

Maybe you can order a prescription from drugstore.com and get 1500 Mypoints and redeem those. Or earn 1000 Mypoints ay other way.

Try www.automallonline.com .

I believe that there is an insurance quote offer for 1000 HH points on the Hilton board.

If you are married, enroll your spouse in HHonors and then combine accounts.

And, yes, you can make the res without the points.

And of course, if all else fails, you can just PURCHASE the points for $10!

"HHonors point purchase option - another great way HHonors gives you unparalleled flexibility!

"You may purchase up to 20% of the points you need for any HHonors reward, at US$10 per 1,000 points."

I have done so.

You might want to post the question in the Hilton forum as well

Ditto here... I booked a 100k reward when I only had about 55k in my account.

For Hilton stays, you can book a reward stay without the points in your account. You just need to get the voucher before you check out. Not sure how it works for awards on partners such as air trips.

Or you can just book a room and stay the night.

You are right and polite, cblaisd. When I first began composing my message it was to inquire about general methods of dealing with orphan miles, a MilesBuzz topic.

But as I worked on it it and considered my own situation, the message became Hilton-centric. Unfortunately, I didn't think about the fact that it was still going into the MilesBuzz category until after I posted it. It's kind of off-topic here.

I am sure you could join MyPoints and get 1000 mypoints (and then convert those to 1000 HHonors points) relatively quickly for free as well.

No need for an apology. Seems to me it started out as an appropriate general question. I was only suggesting that the Hilton mavens might also be helpful as well as here.

My dim recollection is that the MyPoints ----->HHonors transfer was executed within a few days. Others may have more recent experience.
