It all depends on your travel habits. If you travel to Hawaii and generally fly sterage as I do then Northwest wins hands down with more reward seating than CO and you may connect with Hawaiian Air for no extra mileage charge if you go on to Maui or Kona
whereas CO hits you for an extra 10,000 making you burn 45000 One Pass miles to NW 35,000. HoKeY upgrade policy on CO is a joke
whereas on NW is is possible to get an upgrade but no World Busines Class just plain domestic FC. For Domestic travel I would recomend America West with the most generous FF program going at only 20,000 miles for a free ticket year round.
Thats just my opinion.

>>> Thank you! I like your opinion. You can get free upgrades on NW to Hawaii but not on CO??? that may have answered my question.

I give NW the edge on partners worldwide, though the CO/America West one might indeed be more valuable in some places. Hopefully HP stays in business.

NW can also get you an HA interisland award for 5K rather than 10K on CO. They also have the edge in online booking of awards.

OTOH, NW's excluding of CyberSavers and miles + money fares from mileage credit is worrisome. NW management has never been as committed as CO to making the FF program an industry standout, IMHO.

The real wildcard is mileage-earning specials and mileage sales. CO is in a drought on them now, but I would still give CO the edge there.

-RustyC and all others who have helped, thank you. Where could I go to find a comparison of the 2 programs? The boards on here, which I do look at, are separate.
I need a comparison. CO's working with HP is a bonus, as I live in the Western US.

On the other hand-otoh , NW is closer to KLM and most of my travel is to Europe.
Help! thanks...

World Perks is much better than Onepass. I am Platinum Elite with both and consistently have trouble w/ CO.

Will someone else share their experiences as Plat on both NW and CO?

You might want to post this question in both the NW and CO forum (and indicate that you did)

I'm new here - where do I find the NW forum??

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe NW's domestic upgrade policy applies only to flights within the contiguous 48 states and to Canada, Alaska, Mexico, Caribbean and South America and not to Hawaii, even though for service purposes they treat it as a domestic flight. I believe you'd have to use WP miles to upgrade to FC to Hawaii.

Thanks for the info. I just wrote to NW and asked for a challenge, or atleast about it.

Had dinner with a flyertalker on Saturday, former CO Plat. She said CO elites are leaving in droves, she is one of them, gone to AA. CO really needs to look at what they are doing, and fast...

And how would she know if in fact Elites are "leaving in droves?" ....and to her..what constitutes droves??

>>> FYI, she is a major FFer -Platinum with CO and was so pissed she up and left. She mentioned a few people on here, Flyertalk, who are some serious heavy hitters at CO, in the 300,000 ballpark per year, and have left. She was asking how CO could not notice and wonder about their dissapearance...

They are fed up with the changes and the lies from Gordo. She mentioned the Hokey fares. From what I know of them, it is pure insanity. You have to pay a higher fare and take a gamble on getting the upgrade... CO, apparently, is playing games with upgrades, so they are leaving. To me that is not an issue, as I usually save my miles for free trips to exotic places. They fly so much they want to upgrade to Business, why American is looking good to them(where she went) as AA is good on upgrading... AA with MRTC is the best if you must fly in coach.

CO needs to chill, go back to their old ways, and count the money... I don't think anyone trusts Gordo anymore...

Keep watching, you will see. This is what I have heard, and passing it on...

I do not trust Gordo the Liar and his band of mileage reducers. I worked hard to earn my CO miles and have been VERY loyal to CO. I am not pleased at the instant DEVALUATION of my miles.

I know all about the goings-on with CO....I'm a heavy hitter PLAT myself...I was just wondering where anyone has seen "Elites leaving in droves" ...I know some are leaving...but unless we're talking hundreds or thousands....you shouldn't use the word "droves". CO could probably careless...as half of these people are probably low-rev....with Q,T and V fares.
Hokey is over with anyway....no more H,K and Y lottery...the rules have changed ...not great ..but better.

>>> Hi. I apologize if droves was the wrong word, but a "significant amount" is fair to say. No, these people don't pay the cheap fares, they travel on business and often pay full fares. They felt screwed. Remember, this is not me, this is them. I can only comment on American. AA itself is making some nutty cutbacks and changes, why I am not really happy there.

Anyway, I need to hit the CO boards to see what is going on, but if I move, it will be to NW. Thanks...
