Moved Thread - Emails promotions that get you interested
Ok..it seems like a consensus that short and to the point is the key. I agree that emails that are too long won't get my attention, unless it is a newsletter.
What about HTML? Email engines these days..at least the best ones, can detect if your email client accepts HTML or not, and deliver the appropriate one.
Is anyone adverse to getting HTML email, as long as it shows up correctly?

Past threads:
As someone who handles the email promotoins of a number of major hotel chains. I'd really appreciate your advice on the following.
What do you want to see in email campaigns from hotels? What would make you give up your name, email address and phone number?

First off, I don't think this is the correct forum for this topic (TravelBuzz or ONMI would be better), but since it's here I'll answer it.
My number one priority is TEXT ONLY (or the option for such). I read my mail with "pine" and HTML-formatted messages immediately get the [d] key. The other key factor for me is to keep it short. Give me one key paragraph with the name of the company, the gist of the promo, and where to go on the web for more information. If I'm interested, I'll read more on my own.

This really should go in OMNI, or at least Misposted Threads.
While a valid topic, SIN1K, this forum is for sharing get-together info, not general questions about miles/points/hotels and such. Thanks for your consideration.

---------------------------------------------Agree that this is in the wrong place, but I guess double posting somewhere else isn't the answer either - so I'll trust the moderator to move it
Absolutely nothing gest me to give up my phone number, address, etc. in response to a promo except significant freebies. Even then I'll give you my fax #, and my prone-to-spam email address I keep for just that purpose. But I guess you have my email address if I received this promo via email..

Thanks to all who answered...and I'm moving this thread to MilesBuzz..since Omni is no where to be found. Thanks!
