Getting away from NWA

I am currently NWA gold and want to continue earning the perks, however I dont want to earn any more NWA miles. So if I use my Continental one pass it wont show me as NWA gold. Am I right on that or not??? How do I get NWA perks but earn Continental miles???? I need answers .....PLEASE

Just fly with your CO # but call them as they can store your WP# in the reservation to get the elite perks - but I think you will only get priority boarding and seating but not the upgrades or bonus mileage. I could be wrong, but that is what I remember.

I think you should be fine on CO. If you are not sure if the upgrades will
process okay or not.. book flight using your WP# and change it at the
airport or when your board to use CO OP #

I'm pretty sure CO will pull any upgrade you get on CO flights using your NW FF # unless you also have elite status with CO. Might be academic though, as last year I got upgraded on CO flights as CO gold so little that I switched this year to NW. If you fly NW I believe you can switch to CO FF # without losing the upgrade, but if you fly lower fares on NW, you only get 50% EQM with CO which will turn NW gold into CO silver for the same amount of flying.

Switch to Co ?

Living in Texas I get to fly CO as much as I like.

There are loads of CO Platinums around here. The space in most of CO's

equiptment doesn't allocate as many seats as NW does in F.

As a former Gold, I was transparent to the CO EUA program.

That's why I fly NW metal.

I have been elite on DL, CO, UA, US, and AA. NW gives the best

domestic upgrades, without hassle of any US airline.

Why would you want to get away from NW's program? Personally, I wish I had chosen it. You get all of the benefits of the CO program and you get upgraded more when you fly NW (which has more upgrades to start with). You also get elite level choices in international itineraries when doing reward travel on NW. Internationally, NW generally offers a much better product than CO. NW also has plenty of special offers to get extra mileage points that you never see on CO. I like flying CO, but wish I had chosen NW for my FF#.

So true. I had to go CO---> UA ----> NW to comp over, but I'm glad I did. CO's 50% EQM and increasing numbers of RJs took them out of the running. ATL-CLE is all-RJ, and you can fly some pretty long segments like ATL-IAH-MKE on all RJs on CO.

UA doesn't give the freebie upgrades and only has ORD as a true hub from ATL, with IAD as all-RJ and the others without enough flights. Sale fare availability and an awful website also worked against them.

DL has repealed some of the worst Mullin excesses but still takes itself out with the 50% EQM. US doesn't have the route network for awards I want. AA is slightly stronger in ATL than UA but still limited, and 1W isn't as good as *A.

NW is the only option other than DL (unless you count FL) with a decent number of jets and a good upgrade policy.

Damn, I never thought of hopping the status over. Is that pretty much foolproof?

I dont know what the NW policy is, but sometimes they ask for the
statement to verify the status. If they see its a comp,
I dont know how NW will react. Its worth a try, but
you could risk your one-time UA match for this.
