Air Rage, Afghan Style
That guy who took a dump on the cart? Poser. The guy who tried to kick in the cockpit door? What an amateur.
No, my friends, if you want air rage, the Afghans have it down.

Careful, Tony.... The PC Police are running around here, pointing out "hate speech" (i.e. speech THEY don't want to hear, but are unable to challenge on fact).

I know that Islam is not a religion founded upon violence, but events like this will eventually convince many US hicks (like me) otherwise.
An angry mob murdered a government official because they were delayed in their pilgimage to MECCA? THE HOLY SITE of ISLAM?

in the article linked by mdtony, it appears that there was some overbooking. it said that 1400 people had bookings or tickets for 2 planes! however, many afgans seem to be thin.

I don't see why everyone is so surprised, most killings these days are over some "religious" thing. Israel/Palestine - both want to get the holy land. Bin Laden - killed Americans for "religious" reasons. Afgans killed to get to Mecca.
It's not the people that are the problem, it's religion.

Apparently, it was not just a case of air rage. The Afghan prime minister himself says it was a pre-planned assassination by rival groups among the government officials. Too many warlords thriving and bloody politics being practiced in that country. Hope stability returns to the region.

From Karzai's perspective, it's better to blame this on opposition groups as an assassination instead of a random mob lynching, even if that's not true. The credibility of the Afghan government would take a big hit if a mob of civilians can kill a top minister like that. So better to blame it on an unknown conspiracy than to admit the truth.
I guess we'll wait and see, but I think it's quite plausible for this to be what it seems - a mob situation which grew into a lynching.
