Reduced Awards
We want to travel from PIT to YYZ in December.
Here are my problems:
1) ticket prices are rediculously expensive for such a short flight
2) it hurts my soul to spend 50,000 miles for two tickets on such a short route.
3) the United reduced awards do not list this as a qualifying route
4) the AA reduced mileage awards also do not
5) the citi AA reduced awards do not allow travel over two quaters (we want to leave in Dec and return in Jan)
So, are there other airlines that offer reduced mileage awards? Or does anyone else have any good suggestions on what we can do?
Thanks very much :-:

I used 2 live in Boardman Twp. near Youngstown, OH, 50 miles from PIT. When I wanted 2 go only to Toronto, I would just drive
!
However, U want to go during Lake Effect Snow Season. No fun being snowed in between Erie & Buffalo
!
Please also note that taxi fare one-way from YYZ to Downtown Toronto is C$50 or U can take an express bus for C$13 or so pp.
Finally, award tickets are subject to a heap of Canadian & US taxes.
If U still fly, AC offers tickets from PIT @15K to anywhere in Ontario or Qubec even allowing a stopover in YYZ in one direction. Is there another Canadian city which U would like to visit: Ottawa, Montral, Qubec City, Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay...? Please note that all these are much colder & snowier than Pittsburgh (think Minneapolis.) In Ottawa in January U can ice skate on the Rideau Canal past the lovely Parliament & other downtown buildings under supervision of the city Park Dept.!

Or buy an open-jaw or triangle ticket for a double-header vacation: PIT--other destination--YYZ(--PIT). Check on Travelocity for 1-way car rentals each direction between Pittsburgh near your home & Downtown Toronto (100 Yonge St.)

Yeah, I thought about this, but no carrier will let me stopover in Toronto (we wanted to go to Montreal as the final destination).
Maybe I shoud try trading on the Coupon connection for some Air Canada miles.
Thanks ^
