How to Value Hotel Points
Moderators: If this belongs somewhere else, please move it to the appropriate forum. I know the subject is not new but I didn't know where to go to search for FT insights. I didn't know where to post my question: Just as air miles are value at $.01 - $.015 per mile, has anyone devised a simplistic way to value hotel points? I realize that all hotel programs are vastly different but is it possible to design a simple formula for determining whether one should spend points for a room versus paying cash? Thanks in advance.

This subject has been discussed at length in the various hotel fora - a search there should yield discussions about the respective value of each point (since, as you already note, not all points are worth the same).
A general discussion (comparison between the programs) is more appropriate, for future reference, in MilesBuzz.

Recent thread "Which hotel points are the most valuable?" would seem to be a good place to start...
