Substitutions/tips regarding the liquid ban on flights?

Anyone with any tips on effective substitutions for liquids that can't be taken aboard flights nowadays? Any dry shampoos, toothpastes, deodorants, etc. out there? I'd definitely like to avoid checking my usual carry-on bag?

I searched but didn't see a "master" thread on this anywhere - just individual ones within many of the specific airline forums.

Thanks!

Check out the Women's forum for effective substitutions, and the safety/security forum for more info!

Are you flying to some remote area where they don't sell these items? Leave yours at home and stop at a convenience store or supermarket after you land.

More upscale business hotels will stock these items. May not be 'your brand' but it will get the job done.

Can I put ice in my carry-on? Perhaps frozen-solid shampoos wrapped in dry ice that will sublimate instead of melt?

Not any remote areas, but I fly twice weekly and if I can use the wisdom of this forum to learn about dry substitutes for these items that I can simply keep in my carryon, it would save time/hassle. I prefer not to go shopping for these items every stop I make - and I don't always have time for that.

That's probably because you're only looking in the Miles&Points group of forums on Flyer Talk. Near the top of each page you'll see a link list that shows where you are, for example in this case:

FlyerTalk Forums > Miles&Points > MilesBuzz

Click on "FlyerTalk Forums" there to see all the forums that DON'T deal with either miles or points, and that's where you'll find forums like Travel Security, Women's Forum, destination-specific forums, etc, etc.

(Moderators: I would suggest that when a you close a thread and suggest it should be in someplace like Travel Security, you explain to newcomers how to get there. Many people seem to not be aware of forums that aren't inside Miles & Points, because they don't realize Miles & Points isn't the ENTIRE focus of this website.)

I would suggest following the advice of sdsearch kaukau above.

As this has nothing to do with miles or points, I'm going to close it here.
