Pet peeve: Faucet

We can put men on the moon but we cannot seem to design a faucet in aircraft toilets that can be used to wash both hands at the same time and doesn't splash water all over the place.

The faucets seem to be designed by the same person who designed the internal power connectors used in PCs.

Thanks for letting me vent.

What does this have to do with mileage?

An airline that deployed the right faucet would get my miles?

I'm not so sure about that. AF deploys a really nifty fauscet in the A340, but I wouldn't pick AF just because of that. That faucet has a time delay so you press it once, and it pumps water long enough to wash both hands.

CX has faucets in F lavs that are activated simply by putting your hands under the spout. Works beautifully and you never touch a faucet.

Perhaps you can start a business installing airline sinks in peoples homes and apartments.

Seinfeld has a funny routine about airport faucets (on I'm Telling You for the Last Time) -- he calls them "**** spring-loaded Alcatraz-style faucets." Very funny! Also a bit about airplane bathrooms.

Those airport faucets at ORD that use movement detectors or something are completely incompetent as well. You spend 5 minutes waving at the sensor and if it actually senses something, by the time you start to rinse it turns off. Argh!!

"What do you mean you didn't get miles for that?!"

One of the funniest TV Programs about Airport Faucets was Candid Camera. They hooked the sink faucets in an Airport so that they could be controlled by one of their people. So that when someone tried to use the one with the sensor, the sink next to them would start flowing. One poor guy was trying to wash his hands and all of the other sinks, Except his, came on. When he went to another sink, the same thing happened.

Quite good.

Will I get miles for the purchase/installation?
