Silk Air ?
I have done some searches in the various areas and have not found much recent info on silk air. I am looking at taking one of the short tour packages that are being offered by them during my trip to singapore. I would like to know if anyone has used them recently, especially their tour group. How would you rate their recent safety record?

Silk Air are a fully owned subsiduary of Singapore Airlines, flying shorter regional routes with A320 craft.
Service is fine, with well trained attendants who seek out eye contact with pax, rather than avoiding your requests. This really distinguishes between airlines, in my opinion.
Safety record is reasonable by American standards, but not really up with the best.
The Wall Street Journal [2.11.00] published a listing of Asia-Pacific Airlines fatal crashes in the period 1970-2000. The figures were: CI 9, GA 8, KA 7, JL 5, AI 3, then TG, SQ-MI & MH with 2 each, and CX, NH and NZ at 1 apiece. QF topped the list with a score of 0, never having had a fatal jet accident, even though it is the world's second oldest airline [after KLM].
The relatively recent SQ crash on a closed runway at TPE airport, plus the total loss of an almost brand new Silk Air plane enroute between CGK & SIN, harmed the image of SQ-MI. The cause is still being debated through the courts, which is not yet legally determined.
Hope this is of some help.

For what it's worth I flew Silk Air a few times last year between sin and Sulawesi and other spots in Indonesia. I found the service to be first-rate--not surprising since it is owned by Singapore Airlines.
I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. I don't know anything about their tour service but would it expect it to be run just as well.
