Shower facilities at TPE?
I will be transiting through TPE with about a five hour layover. I was wondering if there were any shower facilities to use while there. If so, are they airside or landside? What fees are associated with them? Do you need to make an "appointment"?
I will be traveling on CX, but their site indicates that their lounge at TPE does not have shower facilities.
Thanks for any information.

There is only one shower facility in TPE in the CX terminal - it is on the airside in a public restroom.
There are no towels provided, no soap, and it is dirty/mildewed. It is basically a bathroom stall with a curtain in it, a shower head, and a drain in the floor.
There is no secure place to put your luggage while you are showering.
Personally, if you are transiting on CX to HKG, I would recommend showering there.

You can always rent a room at one of the transit hotels at the airport, depending upon which terminal you're passing through and the time of day you are there. For details try:
www.evergreen.com.tw where you should find the appropriate link and page. While I haven't used this facility, I noticed it last fall when at the terminal, and did use a similar facility at SIN. It will likely cost around US$50.

Evergreen and Cathay are in separate terminals and quite a trek apart. Also, Evergreen's lounge is also the Diners lounge and if have and present your Diners Club card you'll get in free.

You are confusing the Evergreen Lounge with the transit hotels which are separate operations. I believe there is also a hotel a short walk from the terminal CX is in, operated by Evergreen, which is the corporation that owns EVA AIR. I hadn't checked the link myself until a few minutes ago and find it really doesn't get you the information needed. I lifted it directly from the Airport brochure I kept from my recent trips there. Why not call CX for further detials, but I did see the T2 transit hotel lobby on my way to the Evergreen Lounge.

The airport transit hotels have day-rates for transits of <4 hours which allows you to shower, stretch out on a bed for a while, and get back to the airport in time for your connection.
